Land of midnight sun and northern lights. Tundra + Taiga. Forests, mountains, swamps, wild rivers and Sámi culture – all this is Lapland. But in addition, the sport angler will find here a world-class area to pursue Arctic freshwater fish. With more than 6000 lakes and 6 main rivers plus endless tributaries, this area offers almost unlimited possibilities for the sport fisherman. The small town of Kiruna is located about 200 km north of the Arctic Circle and is the starting point for fishing trips in an almost untouched natural landscape. On a surface, which in total is about the same as the Netherlands, there are just 23,000 inhabitants.
Fishing trips in SWEDEN
At fishing trips in SWEDEN you can catch foloowing species: Arctic char, grayling, brown trout + pike. Fishing will be done through the ice ( suitable drills for ice will be provided on the spot). The normal ice thickness is 0.7-1.5 meters.
To anticipate: You can fish successfully in this area all year round. However, the tours we offer here focus purely on winter (ice) fishing, as this is yet another extraordinary experience in itself. To drive with snow-scooters far into the winter wilderness, to camp there for several days and to fish for the arctic fish. Watching northern lights while doing so and knowing: You are in a very special place. If this is what you are looking for, this is the place for you.
Fishing vacation SWEDEN
Fishing vacation in SWEDEN: The winter season is – at least for our understanding – relatively long and extends over the period from the end of November to the end of April/beginning of May, whereby the polar night goes from 21.12. to 04.01. At the end of April beginning of May the days become very long again. The best period for tours, which offers both sufficient daylight and a good chance of seeing auroras ( as long as the sky is clear), is March to early April. Here the ice conditions are usually also very good. Of course, similar to sea fishing, you always have to expect days off due to weather conditions. Therefore we plan 7 nights with 6 fishing days for the tours. Within these 7 days, you are scheduled to spend 4-5 nights in comfortable cabins at the lodge, from where you will then go on daily fishing trips with the snowmobiles — and the remaining 2-3 days are for an expedition far into the wilderness with overnight stays in heated tents. Depending on what target fish you prefer, the trip will be planned accordingly. Of course you will be fully catered for the entire time.
Clothing + fitness: Winter fishing requires not only good clothing/equipment but also a certain level of physical fitness – especially if you are going on a tour with several overnight stays in the ice wilderness.
Arrival: There are daily flights with SAS via Stockholm to Kiruna – here your adventure will start. As a further means of transport serves then mainly the snow scooter

The boats
Of course, for these ice fishing tours, the boat can not be the means of transportation. To get to the fishing spots, you usually use snow scooters. For specially arranged tours, it can also be the helicopter.
Accommodation
You will stay either in cozy cabins (for day fishing trips)……..
………or on the expeditions for 2-3 days in a heated tent – in the middle of the wilderness.
