Fishing on Amberjack is considered a fine art even among die-hard big gamers, because even if you have a good spot, you still have to use a lot of cunning and guile to get the fish to bite — and that takes some experience. Offshore the island of Zirjie, these two conditions come together in an ideal way. Zirjie is located in the immediate proximity of the well-known Kornati archipelago – from the mainland you can take a boat from Sibenik for a 1-1.5 hour passage.

Fishing for amberjack here means winter fishing adventure CROATIA – ZIRJIE. In the period from mid-December to mid-March, the chances of hooking a capital amberjack are the best. Kpt. Damir with his “Tuna Bird” is one of 2 skippers who specialise in amberjack fishing. The fishing is mostly with live squid, trolled very slowly – and far behind the boat. If the conditions are right, this is an almost certain method.

Particularly impressive is the average size of the “AJs”, which is around 20-25 kg. Smaller fish than 15 kg are hardly ever caught, but there is still plenty of room for improvement: skipper Damir has already been able to put fish over 50 kg on the deck.

Since experience has shown that there is a higher risk of cancellation due to weather conditions in the winter months, we only offer weekly tours for this destination, with 4 trips firmly scheduled. Normally these 4 fishing trips CROATIA in ZIRJIE take place. Should the weather permit additional trips, these can be booked flexibly on place.

Arrival: Either by car to Sibenik and from there by boat, or by plane to Split, where you will be picked up by your skipper and then boarded in Sibenik.

You will stay in a guest flat directly at the small harbour of the island of Zirjie. There are 2 bedrooms, a living area with sofa, dining table + TV, a bathroom with shower/WC and a small kitchenette – but you will hardly need it.
