Fishing adventure MAURITIUS / SOUDAN BANK

Fishing adventure in Soudan Bank is an underwater plateau located about 100 nautical miles north-east of Mauritius. There are actually 5 banks, which extend over an area of approximately 100 km². The average water depth is about 50 meters, while the bank quickly drops to 3000 meters on its steep slopes. The fish population here is incredibly large and varied. The bank is known above all for the capital Dogtooth Tuna, which are caught here regularly.

Fishing travel MAURITIUS / SOUDAN BANK

On the trip we offer, we will be 2 long tours, each with 4 nights / 3 days at sea. In between there is a break of 2.5 days that we will spend in a hotel to relax a little from the rigors of fishing travel MAURITIUS / SOUDAN BANK. Excursions on the island are of course also possible.

The journey to the bank and back takes around 12 hours each and takes place at night. That means we leave Mauritius on the first day in the late afternoon, then arrive on Soudan Bank very early the next morning and then have 3 days with 12 hours each from sunrise to nightfall. At the end of the 3rd day we go back at night and we arrive in Mauritius in the morning.

AQUILA

The AQUILA is a 53 foot Sportfisherman yacht, which was specially designed for fishing here off Mauritius. It is very seaworthy and is powered by 2 x 370 HP Yanmar engines. Safety equipment such as VHF radio, satellite telephone, life jackets + life raft are a matter of course. Shower + toilet on board. 3 cabins.

Big Game fishing gear (2 x 130 lbs, 3 x 80 lbs and 2 x 50 lbs) for trolling is on board. Lighter equipment (jigging / popping) must be brought.

We only have 2 hotel nights for the guided tour for single drivers during the break between the two fishing trips in MAURITIUS / SOUDAN BANK
. Here we will be accommodated in a good middle class hotel or an apartment house in the Cap Malheureux region (northern tip of Mauritius).

Schedule of the tour

Day 1

Departure in Germany via Paris (Air France / Air Mauritius). Departures from other countries on request.

Day 2

Arrival in Mauritius in the afternoon. Transfer to the boat. We go directly on board the AQUILA and make our way to the Soudan Bank.

Day 3

Arrival in Soudan Bank early in the morning. Fishing all day until sunset. Accommodation + full board on board.

Day 4 + 5

About 12 hours of fishing each from sunrise to sunset. Return to Mauritius on the 5th day in the evening.

Day 6

Arrival in Mauritius in the morning. Drive to the accommodation. It may be that we will only deposit luggage here, since experience has shown that the rooms can only be occupied in the afternoon.

Day 6-8

2 x hotel accommodation or apartment in a double room. A possible excursion program can be individually designed on site.

Day 8

In the afternoon we board the AQUILA again and head towards Soudan Bank.

Day 9

Arrival in Soudan Bank early in the morning. Fishing all day until sunset. Accommodation + full board on board.

Day 10 + 11

About 12 hours of fishing each from sunrise to sunset. On the 11th day return to Mauritius in the evening.

Day 12

Arrival in Mauritius in the morning. We still have the day to spend on the island. Then return flight in the evening.
