Fishing adventure PANAMA
Panama – a tropical paradise located in Central America between Costa Rica in the North and Colombia in the south – with dreamlike sections of coastline, countless picturesque islands on both the Pacific and the Caribbean coast.
More than nine hundred species of birds, hundreds of species of mammals, reptiles and amphibians are at home here – and what is of course particularly important: a large number of very interesting (Little) Big Game fish species.
We can offer you an extremely exciting fishing and a dreamlike accommodation on the small island of Boca Brava on the Pacific coast. From here, the fast fishing boats go out to the world-famous “Hannibal Bank”, or to the islands of Montousa or Ladrones.
Target fish – depending on the season: Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin-Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado in offshore fishing (especially Hanibal Bank) and Cubera Snapper, Roosterfish, Jack Crevalle, Amberjack, as well as the various Shark species when fishing around the islands. The Cubera in particular is well represented and possible in large sizes.
More than 50 IGFA world records have already been set off the coast here.
Fishing methods: trolling, popping, jigging and live bait fishing – depending on the target fish.
Best fishing times for target fish:
- Marlin: December to May (top season January + February)
- Sailfish: January to April
- Yellowfin Tuna: March to August
- Dorado: November to April
- Roosterfish: January to December
- Cubera Snapper: January to December
- Wahoo: July to December
Fishing trips Panama
Fishing trips in Panama is ideal for both a pure fishing vacation, as well as for a combination of a round trip (rental car) where you then spend a few days in a dream lodge and go fishing 2-3 times.
Arrival: Either to Panama City and then continue with domestic flight to David, or from Panama City with rental car (for a round trip).
You will be hosted by our local partners, the service team and their fishing guides (English). Here you get a competent answer for all questions regarding fishing and you can always be told the best bait, methods and fishing spots. The team is of course also responsible for all questions about the boat.
The charters boats
Fast boats are used in Panama, as you sometimes have to travel a bit longer to reach the absolute hotspots. These are open boats with center console and 2 powerful (mostly 150-200 HP) outboard motors.
Full nautical equipment with depth sounder / chart plotter, radio. etc. are a matter of course.The capacity of the boats are 2 to a maximum of 4 anglers. The fishing equipment is completely on board – but you can of course bring your own gear, if you wish.
Hotel Bocas del Mar
The Hotel Bocas del Mar Hotel in Chiriquí offers you modern luxury in an exclusive location – right on the coast, on the mainland in Boca Chica.
As a guest, you can rely on a quality service with an eye for details.
You live in the spacious room in a modern bungalow style, which are all located in the tropical gardens of the hotel complex. There is a private jetty.
This is also a perfect location to explore the surrounding area.
The Bocas Del Mar is also easily accessible, since the hotel is located on the mainland, you can easily reach it by car within just 50 minutes from David Airport (Panama’s second largest city). We can organize the transfer for you.
Tuna-Tour to Panama
Dear sport fishermen,
the past few years we have been fishing with groups in May / June very successfully for big Yellowfin Tuna. But not only that – in addition to the brutally fighting Tuna, Cubera Snapper, Roosterfish and many other fish species such as Jack Crevalle, Wahoo, Dorado and Sailfish are also attracted by the bait.
We mainly fish with light equipment (popper / jig rods) – either with dead / live baits, or – if you want – with spinning baits (popper, stickbaits + jigs).
The trip goes to the Boca Chica region, which is known for its good fishing all over the world. During our last trip, the anglers were able to hook up to 30 (!) Tunas on the best days and let off steam during the drills. The average size was 20-40 kg, but there were also fish of 60-70 kg — and even so-called “cows”, ie fish beyond 100 kg, are always possible here.
We are fishing from fast center console boats (29 or 31 feet), which are specially designed for this fishery and which bring us to the fish quickly with their powerful twin outboards.
To recover from the rigors of fishing, we live in the very posh Bocas Del Mar complex.
