Dear Anglers,
Iceland – the name immediately conjures up images of geysers, glaciers, waterfalls, and volcanoes… but first and foremost, one thinks of the nearly 5,000 km long coastline, the stunning fjords, and, of course, the almost unbelievable abundance of fish. An ideal place, then, to spend your fishing holiday.
A glance at the map quickly reveals that large parts of the Icelandic coastline are completely exposed and unprotected, facing the whims of the Atlantic. In the Westfjords, however, you’ll find a fjord region reminiscent of Norway, which – depending on the wind direction – often offers the opportunity to find a relatively sheltered fishing spot even in stronger winds. The Isafjord (Icefjord) is the largest fjord in the region and cuts approximately 75 km inland.

In Flateyri, you’ll find comfortable self-catering holiday homes. The fishing spots are easily accessible, providing a perfect base for catching big game fish.
You’ll primarily fish on the legendary sand plateau located just offshore at the mouth of the fjord. Cod are found here in unimaginable numbers – some of them truly impressive – at depths of only 20-50 meters.
Wolves, weighing over 20 pounds, can also be targeted close to the shore, as well as around the mussel beds of the sand plateau. The drop-off at the mouth of the Icefjord is also within reach, offering excellent opportunities for catching large cod and, occasionally, halibut at depths of 50-100 meters. These spots are a hidden gem for catching the biggest predators, especially in late spring and towards the end of the season (September).
Flateyri has the great advantage of being very sheltered, yet still allowing you to reach the absolute best spots out on the open sea in less than half an hour.
For the individual fishing trip in September, which is designed for a total of 8 anglers, we have booked 3 holiday homes, each with 3 bedrooms – meaning that every participant has their own bedroom (the bathroom, however, must be shared).
Anglers fillet their own fish (the necessary facilities, including freezers, are available) and can take up to 20 kg of fish home. Additional costs may apply for the return transport of the fish – depending on whether you book an extra piece of luggage for this purpose. An overnight stay in a 4-star hotel in or near Reykjavik is planned before the return trip to Germany.

The tour will be accompanied by Sven Reifke – a passionate angler who has landed some impressive fish and knows the area extremely well thanks to numerous trips. Sven will be happy to share his tips and tricks with you. But that’s not all – Sven is a trained chef and will be responsible for your meals during your stay, as full board (see explanation below) is included in the trip.
