The team at Mar Balear Fishing Adventures is constantly proving that, despite these statements, you can experience excellent fishing in the Balearic Islands.

Mallorca – The “Banco Tour” – multi-day trip with overnight stay + meals on board

The Banco Tour is, so to speak, the “King’s Tour” and thus pretty much the best thing you can do in the Mediterranean. The fishing is done at the “Banco de Emile de Baudot”, named after a French scientist. This is a plateau that is about 50 nautical miles offshore from Mallorca and has an area of about 2 x 6 nautical miles.

The average water depth is around 85-120 m, but at the edges the plateau drops steeply on the north side quickly to over 1000 m and on the south side even to over 2500 m. You don’t have to be an expert to imagine that pretty much all the fish species in the Mediterranean can be found here. But not only that – giant Whales (mainly Sperm Whales) also regularly come to the bank to fill their stomachs here. When asked what to catch there, the Mar Balear team replied in unison, “Especially bigger!”

35 foot Swifttrawler – perfect for multi-day tours.

The tours are operated on Beneteau Swift Trawlers 35. These were newly procured in 2019. These yachts are 35 feet (11.29 meters) long and have 425 horsepower Cummins diesel engines. On board there is a galley with cooking unit and oven, refrigerator, shower and 6 comfortable beds. The boats have all the necessary safety equipment and are approved according to German and Spanish safety standards. The ships sail under the German flag and the Mar Balear crews have the required licenses.

Upon arrival at Palma de Mallorca airport, directly transferto the marina and embarking the boats. On the way to the bank, depending on the season, Albacore, Palomettas, Spearfish or Dorados are fished. The method here is primarily trolling – and as soon as the fish are found, then jigging or popping. In the late evening you will arrive at the bank, where the skipper will explore a suitable anchorage. The boats have powerful lamps that illuminate the sea brightly all around at night. This light attracts huge amounts of Krill, Octopus and of course all other nocturnal sea predators. Here fishing rigs are then specifically designed for Swordfish. In addition, every guest can try their luck with bottom fishing with natural bait or chase Squids, which reach an imposing size here. Full board and overnight on board.
